John, a fraud investigator, is interviewing Mary, who he suspects has been embezzling company funds. Which of the following is the recommended approach John should use to ask Mary questions?
I'll have to go with C on this one. Specific to general is the way to go - keeps the suspect on their toes and you in control. Plus, it's the most logical approach, unlike trying to 'bamboozle' the suspect with random questions. Not that I've ever tried that, of course!
I think the recommended approach is C. Start with specific questions and move toward general questions. This allows you to gather detailed information first before moving to broader topics.
