I believe getting composer repository credentials from the vendor, option D), is the safest way to install the extension without any issues.

Personally, I would choose option C) and add it to the project in app/code and commit it to git for better tracking.

I think option B) using the composer-merge-plugin sounds like a good idea to enable support for the extension.
