Hmm, Option D seems interesting. Setting the configurable product image to the parent thumbnail could work, but I'm not convinced it'll solve the issue completely. Better go with Option B.

C'mon, Option C? Seriously? Asking the business to upload photos of all the variants? That's just more work for them. Option B is the clear winner here.
