Exactly, that's a good point. And option D, creating a native SQL Server backup, seems like overkill when we can just export the snapshot directly to S3.

I'm not so sure about that. Changing the retention period might not be an option if the maximum is already set to the desired length. In that case, I would go with option B and export the contents to an S3 bucket.

I think option C is the best choice here. Changing the retention period of the snapshot is the simplest and most efficient way to meet the requirement.
