Topic #: 2
[All PAS-C01 Questions]

A company is running SAP on anyDB at a remote location that has slow and inconsistent internet connectivity. The company wants to migrate its system to AWS and wants to convert its database to SAP HANA during this process Because of the inconsistent internet connection the company has not established connectivity between the remote location and the company's VPC in the AWS Cloud.

How should the company perform this migration?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

Snowball Edge allows for offline data transfer, which is suitable for cases where there is slow and inconsistent internet connectivity. The data can be transferred to the Snowball Edge device, shipped to the AWS region, and then imported into the new SAP HANA system in the VPC. This is a suitable option for migrating large amounts of data from a remote location to AWS.

Yeah, the DMO with System Move option seems like the most robust approach. Although using Amazon EFS to transfer the files could work too, the Snowball Edge is probably the safer bet given the connectivity problems.

Absolutely. The Snowball Edge device is designed for these kinds of scenarios where you need to move large data sets without a reliable internet connection. It's a great solution.

I agree. The best approach here would probably be using the SAP Software Update Manager (SUM) Database Migration Option (DMO) with System Move, and an AWS Snowball Edge device to transfer the export files. That way, we can avoid the internet connection issues.

I think we're on the right track with the migration plan using the Snowball Edge device and Amazon EPS.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. With the slow and inconsistent internet connection, I don't think using SAP HANA system replication over the internet would be a viable option. That could take forever and be prone to issues.
