What is a risk of pre-warning a supplier that you will conduct an audit of their facilities?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

A risk of pre-planning an audit is the supplier has time to prepare for it. It's a good thing in that they can get their paperwork in order but the downside is they can overprepare so you don't get a realis-tic representation of what they're doing. One way they can do this is coaching staff in what to say to the auditors.

This is a no-brainer - D is the answer. The supplier will probably order a catered lunch and have the staff practice their 'audit-friendly' responses. Might as well just ask them to roll out the red carpet while you're at it.

D is the way to go. Letting the supplier know in advance is like telling a kid the surprise party is tomorrow. The 'surprise' is kind of ruined, you know?

I'd say D is the right answer. You might as well just send the supplier a fruit basket and a thank-you note if you let them know about the audit ahead of time. Might as well skip the audit altogether.

Yeah, it's better to keep it a surprise so you can see their operations as they really are.

I agree, D is definitely a risk. They could easily coach their staff on what to say.

I'm going with D. The whole point of an audit is to get an unbiased look at the supplier's operations. If they have time to prepare, it defeats the purpose. Might as well just ask them to write a glowing review.

Yeah, it's important to catch them off guard to get a true picture of their operations.

I agree, giving them a heads up could lead to them coaching their staff on what to say.

B seems like the obvious choice. If the supplier knows about the audit, they'll probably take the day off and not perform their regular duties. Doesn't exactly scream 'business as usual'.

Hmm, I think D is the correct answer. Pre-warning a supplier could give them enough time to coach their staff on what to say during the audit. Not a good idea if you want to get an honest assessment.

Yeah, pre-warning could definitely lead to the supplier coaching their staff. Not ideal for an unbiased assessment.
