Actual exam question for Cisco's 300-810 exam
Question #: 83
Topic #: 8
[All 300-810 Questions]

An engineer is informed that high availability for a Cisco IM and Presence server fails While the engineer examines the Cisco UCM presence redundancy group in the Ul. they discover that the first .. is in the Idle state, and the second node is in the running in backup mode state Which action must the engineer take to place both nodes back in the normal state?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

The scenario indicates a high availability failover condition for a Cisco IM and Presence server: one node is idle, the other is running in backup mode. To restore both nodes to normal operation, initiating a controlled failover is the best approach:

Failover Action:This will gracefully switch the active role to the idle node, making it primary and restoring redundancy.

I think reinstalling the first node of the IM and Presence server is a bit extreme. I would go with clicking Failover like Katy suggested.

I'm not sure about restarting the node. Maybe clicking Fallback in the Server Action field would be a safer option.

I believe restarting the first node of the IM and Presence server could also help in restoring normal state.

I would consider reinstalling the first node of the IM and Presence server as a last resort.

I disagree with Ammie, I think clicking Fallback in the Server Action field would be more effective.

Hmm, that makes sense. I'm leaning towards option B, 'Restart the first node of the IM and Presence server'. That seems like a logical step to try and get the nodes back to normal operation.

I think the key here is understanding the states of the Cisco UCM presence redundancy group. If one node is in 'Idle' and the other is in 'Running in backup mode', we need to find a way to get both nodes back to the 'Normal' state.

Yeah, I hear you. 'Failover' and 'Fallback' don't sound very intuitive to me. Are we supposed to just guess which one is the right answer?

I think that option makes sense because it implies switching to another node

Hmm, this question seems a bit tricky. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the terminology used in the options. What do you all think?
