You know, a NAS was my first thought as well. But what about something like a storage appliance or a content delivery network (CDN) cache? They also operate at the file level with lightweight OSes.
I think this might be referring to a network-attached storage (NAS) device. They usually have their own embedded OS and are designed for file-level storage, right?
Hmm, this seems like a tricky one. Operating at the file level and having its own lightweight OS on simplified hardware? Sounds like some kind of specialized storage solution, but I'm not sure which one.
