Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'll say C, just to be different. Why not encrypt it on the end device, keep 'em guessing, you know?

I agree, that way the data is secure from the beginning.

I think it should be encrypted on the source device before transmission.

Haha, this question is a classic. I'll go with B. Encryption at the source is the way to go, folks. No need to overthink it.

D is not a good choice because the data should be encrypted before it reaches the server.

I think A could also work if the device consuming the API has the encryption keys.

I'm going with D. The server is where the data is stored, so that's where it needs to be encrypted. Duh!

I see your point, but I still believe encrypting it on the source device is the way to go.

But wouldn't it make more sense to encrypt it on the server that stores the data?

I think the data should be encrypted on the end device after a request is received (C). This way, it's only decrypted when needed.

The answer is clearly B. Encryption needs to happen before the data is transmitted to ensure end-to-end security. Anything else is just plain nonsense.

Yes, that's correct. Encryption at the source device ensures end-to-end security.

I agree with Alpha, encrypting on the source device before transmission (B) ensures end-to-end encryption throughout the process.

I disagree, I believe the data should be encrypted on the server that stores the data (D). That way, it's protected at rest.
