Question #: 48
Topic #: 3
[All 220-1101 Questions]

An IT specialist sets up a wireless router in a SOHO environment. Afterwards, several devices cannot access the internet and are assigned IP addresses starting with 169.254. Which of the following is the best action to resolve this issue?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

An IP address beginning with 169.254 indicates that the device has not received a valid IP from the DHCP server. Rebooting the router can resolve minor configuration or network glitches, allowing DHCP to function correctly. The other options, such as adjusting lease time or static IP addresses, do not address the core problem. CompTIA A+ Core 1 objectives emphasize DHCP troubleshooting in SOHO networks.

I think the best solution is to reboot the wireless router. That usually fixes any connectivity issues.
