Question #: 69
Topic #: 4
[All SK0-005 Questions]

The management team has requested that new software licenses be purchased out of the capital budget as one-time, non-renewing expenses this year. Which of the following types of software licenses would most likely be used to meet this request?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

A perpetual license is a one-time purchase that allows the software to be used indefinitely without recurring costs. This meets the requirement of a non-renewing, one-time capital expense.

Perpetual (Answer D): This is a one-time purchase and does not require renewal, making it ideal for capital expenditure.

Open-source (Option A): Open-source software is usually free but may not meet specific licensing requirements.

Subscription (Option B): This typically involves recurring payments, which contradicts the non-renewing expense requirement.

Volume (Option C): Volume licenses are used for purchasing multiple licenses at a discount but may still involve subscription-based renewals.

Ooh, software licenses! Can I eat them? Just kidding, I know it's D) Perpetual. Perpetual means 'forever,' right? Like my appetite for bananas.

Well, Virgina and Gracia make good points. I was tempted to go with C) Volume, but I suppose that's more for bulk licenses than one-time purchases. Perpetual it is!

That's a good point, but I still think D) Perpetual makes more sense for a one-time expense.

I agree, D) Perpetual seems to be the best choice. Who doesn't love a software license that keeps on giving, year after year? No subscription fees for this team!

I disagree, I believe the management team would prefer B) Subscription for flexibility.

Definitely D) Perpetual licenses. That's the only type that fits the 'one-time, non-renewing' criteria. Open-source and subscription models don't work here.

Yeah, we only need to purchase them once and they don't expire.

Subscription licenses would require ongoing payments, so they're not a good fit for this request.

But with the one-time, non-renewing criteria, D) Perpetual licenses make the most sense.

Volume licenses could also work if we need a large number of licenses at once.
