Actual exam question for Confluent's CCDAK exam
Question #: 57
Topic #: 1
[All CCDAK Questions]

There are five brokers in a cluster, a topic with 10 partitions and replication factor of 3, and a quota of producer_bytes_rate of 1 MB/sec has been specified for the client. What is the maximum throughput allowed for the client?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Each producer is allowed to produce @ 1MB/s to a broker. Max throughput 5 * 1MB, because we have 5 brokers.

Ah, the joys of Kafka performance tuning! I'm going with A) 10 MB/s. Why? Because with 5 brokers and 10 partitions, the sky's the limit, right? *winks* Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

The answer is clearly C) 1 MB/s. It's a simple matter of dividing the quota by the number of brokers. Unless of course, the question is trying to trick us with some hidden Kafka voodoo magic. *laughs nervously*

This question is making my head spin! But I'll go with B) 0.33 MB/s, since the replication factor is 3 and the quota is 1 MB/sec, so the max throughput must be lower than that. Hopefully, I'm not completely off the mark!

I agree with you, B) 0.33 MB/s seems like the right choice given the replication factor and quota.

You're on the right track! The answer is indeed B) 0.33 MB/s, as the maximum throughput allowed for the client is limited by the replication factor and quota specified.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. I'll go with D) 5 MB/s, because there are 5 brokers and 10 partitions, so the throughput should be higher, right? *scratches head*

Oh, I see. Thanks for clarifying! I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Actually, the correct answer is C) 1 MB/s. The quota of producer_bytes_rate limits the maximum throughput allowed for the client.

I think the answer is C) 1 MB/s. With 5 brokers and a producer_bytes_rate quota of 1 MB/sec, the maximum throughput allowed for the client should be 1 MB/s.
