Refer to the exhibit.

An LTM Specialist has created a virtual server to load balance traffic to a pool of HTTPS servers. The servers use client certificates for user authentication. The virtual server has clientssl, serverssl, and http profiles enabled. Clients are unable to connect to the application through the virtual server. Clients are able to connect to the application servers directly.

What is the root cause of the problem?

Hmm, I wonder if the application servers are running on Windows. You know what they say, 'Windows and SSL, a match made in heaven.'

User 3: It could also be that the application server does not see the client certificate due to SSL offload.

User 2: Could be, or maybe the LTM device does not trust the issuing CA of the client certificate.

Maybe the clientssl profile is not set to require a client certificate.

Haha, I bet the LTM Specialist is kicking themselves for not double-checking the clientssl profile. Rookie mistake!

User 3: That's a common mistake, but it can cause a lot of trouble.

User 2: Yeah, they probably forgot to set it to require a client certificate.

User 1: I think the issue is with the clientssl profile.

I agree with Veronika. Without requiring a client certificate, the clients won't be able to connect through the virtual server.

D is also a possibility. If the SSL offload on the LTM device is not configured correctly, the client certificate might not be forwarded to the application servers.

But could it also be that the LTM device does not trust the issuing CA of the client certificate?

Option B seems like the most likely cause. If the clientssl profile isn't set to require a client certificate, the clients won't be able to authenticate with the application servers.

Yes, that makes sense. Without requiring a client certificate, the clients won't be able to connect to the application through the virtual server.

So, the root cause of the problem is likely that the clientssl profile is not set up correctly to authenticate the clients.

I think option B is correct. The clientssl profile needs to require a client certificate for authentication.

I think the root cause is that the clientssl profile is not set to require a client certificate.
