I'm just hoping the rest of the exam questions aren't as tricky as this one. I'd hate to have to resort to flipping coins to choose the answers.

I heard the exam writers had a bet going on to see who could come up with the most confusing and misleading answer options. Looks like they succeeded with this one!

B) When the alarm shielding function is set, the network element will no longer report the alarm; when the alarm suppression is set, the network element will still report the alarm, but the network manager will not receive it.

This is a pretty straightforward question. I'm surprised anyone would get it wrong. Unless, of course, they've been living under a rock without any networking experience.

I'm not sure why option C is even an option. It doesn't make any sense - of course the network element has to do some processing when setting the alarm shielding function.

Option B seems to be the correct answer. The key difference is that with alarm shielding, the network element doesn't report the alarm, while with alarm suppression, it does report the alarm, but the network manager doesn't receive it.

Yes, that's right. And with alarm suppression, the network element still reports the alarm, but the network manager doesn't receive it.

I think option B is correct. With alarm shielding, the network element won't report the alarm.
