Of course it's true! Trying to run two completely different routing protocols at the same time is like trying to drive a car with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake. It just ain't gonna work!

I'm pretty sure that's true. You can't have both OSPF and RIP running on the same router, it would cause a complete routing mess.
