I see your point, Latonia. However, I think option C could also work by creating a script to mask the data and defining the post-clone option with it.

But what if we make a mistake in the masking script? Wouldn't it be better to paste the commands in the pre-clone field like option D?

You can create a clone from a Time Machine and insert pre-post commands section for data masking. The real question is : when should you run data masking script, in pre-script or post-script section ? I think answer is post-script section. After more research about this question, With NDB, you can create sanitized snapshots of databases to create sanitized database clones. You can achieve this in two ways: Synchronous approach: Creating a sanitized snapshot using create or refresh clone workflows where you perform sanitization using post scripts. Asynchronous approach: Creating a sanitized snapshot on an existing clone where you perform sanitization using a third-party tool or a custom script. Note : NDB does not support sanitized snapshots for the Oracle database engine. I think option C is the way to go. It makes the most sense to create a script to mask the data first, and then use that script to create the clone. That way, the data is guaranteed to be masked before it's copied to the development environment.

I'm a little confused about this question. Are we supposed to create a clone of the production database and then mask the data, or create a script to mask the data and then clone the database? The options seem a bit ambiguous to me.
