Strictly following policies is all well and good, but sometimes you need to think outside the box. A little creativity and empathy can go a long way in negotiations.
I agree with option A. Putting yourself in the customer's shoes is the key to finding a mutually beneficial solution. The other options just seem like ways to avoid the issue.
Looking at the problem from the customer's perspective is definitely the way to go. Negotiating is all about understanding their needs, not just following policies blindly.
