Actual exam question for Snowflake's DEA-C01 exam
Question #: 31
Topic #: 2
[All DEA-C01 Questions]

Assuming that the session parameter USE_CACHED_RESULT is set to false, what are characteristics of Snowflake virtual warehouses in terms of the use of Snowpark?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

Creating a DataFrame from a table will start a virtual warehouse because it requires reading data from Snowflake. The other options will not start a virtual warehouse because they either operate on local data or use an existing session to query Snowflake.

Ah, the joys of Snowflake and their virtual warehouses. At this rate, I'll need a whole farm of them to get anything done!

Hmm, this is tricky. I'm leaning towards B and D, but C also seems plausible. I hope I get partial credit if I miss one!

Let's go with B and D for now, but keep C in mind just in case.

C could also be a possibility since transforming a DataFrame might trigger a virtual warehouse.

I agree, D makes sense too since calling a stored procedure would also need a virtual warehouse.

I think B is correct because reading from a staged file would require a virtual warehouse.

That's a good point, Viola. Calling a stored procedure does require processing power as well, so it could also trigger the virtual warehouse.

I'm not sure about that, I think the answer might be D) Calling a Snowpark stored procedure to query the database with session, call () will start a virtual warehouse.

I agree with Ressie, because when you create a DataFrame from a table, it requires processing power which triggers the virtual warehouse.

I'm pretty sure B and D are the correct answers here. Creating a DataFrame from a file and calling a stored procedure both require a virtual warehouse to be running.

Yes, that's correct. Those actions indeed require a virtual warehouse to be started.

I think you're right, creating a DataFrame from a staged file and calling a stored procedure both trigger a virtual warehouse.

A, B, C, and D all sound like they would start a virtual warehouse. I guess Snowflake really wants us to use those warehouses!
