The Splunk REST API? Psh, that's a no-brainer. Unless you enjoy typing support tickets and playing sysadmin with the host OS. This ain't the 90s, folks.

C'mon, the Splunk REST API is the way to go. I'd rather not get my hands dirty with the host OS or risk messing up the config files. That's just asking for a migraine.
